Come along to The Crown on the third Wednesday of the month for an evening of networking and chat about any and all aspects of sustainable living.
Absolutely anyone and everyone is invited!
The setting up of a Green Drinks evening in Horsham was initiated by Transition Horsham in June 2009 with the intention of facilitating the empowerment of local people to build a sustainable future for ourselves in the Horsham area.
Green Drinks is an evening for individuals, groups, organisations and businesses with any interest in the environment, sustainability or building a cohesive local community and/or concerns about climate change, peak oil or resource depletion. It is an opportunity to network - to meet informally and exchange ideas, experiences and plans for positive action, including new business openings.
Green Drinks is organised and hosted (both very loosely!) by Transition Horsham but there is no structure and no agenda; Green Drinks is about and for you, the people who turn up; it is about mingling and serendipity.
Something introduced for the July 2009 Green Drinks is a "Would Like To Meet" board where you can write up your name and a project that you would like to discuss with anyone who might be interested in joining you. We started already with a few even before the July Green Drinks:
* a local produce guide;
* a better local produce market;
* ecological footprinting;
* land/gardens for people wanting to grow food; and
* a couple of self-help home eco-projects.
For those that go regularly, there are only two rules for sustaining Green Drinks so that it doesn't become just a talking shop amongst old friends, nice as that might be.
Firstly, try to invite new people along - friends, neighbours, work colleagues, customers, business associates, really anyone with an interest in broad 'green' issues.
Secondly, mingle widely and make a point of talking to as many new people as you can.
